Imagine living in a home where the ceiling threatens to collapse at any moment, where every drop of rain seeps through, turning your home into a constant reminder of despair. For Muntee Surdhoo, an 80-year-old woman in Bambous Mauritius, this is her heartbreaking reality.

She has recently suffered the devastating loss of her daughter, leaving her alone with her young grandson, who is still a student. Despite their struggles and living on her old aged pension they face an even greater challenge: the roof over their heads is no longer safe.

An architect and engineer have assessed the home, and urgent repairs are needed to make it livable again. This includes:

• Demolishing the collapsing ceiling. 
• Carting away of debris
• Raising the walls and installing a new cement ceiling 
• Waterproofing the house and toilet and walls to protect against future water damage and infiltration
• Drains for kitchen and bathroom (water accumulation currently)
• Sanitary materials

We need your help to raise Rs 400,000 to fund these critical repairs. This amount will cover the masonry work, the building materials, cement, steel rebar, cement roofing sanitaries, water proofing solutions and labour providing a safe and secure home for this elderly woman and her grandson,
