Be the Change: Empower Women in the Mauritian Music Scene

My name is Christelle Zamir, and I am a singer, musician, and proud member of Born to be Music. For years, I’ve poured my heart and soul into the music I create, performing on both local and international stages and collaborating with incredible artists. You may know my songs, like the heartfelt "Parfwa", or have come across my work on Born to Be Music  on YouTube.

But today, I need your help.

The challenges of being an artist in Mauritius are real, and for women, they are even greater. This is why my next project—a new single—means so much to me. This isn’t just another song. It’s a powerful anthem for diversity, empowerment, and the voices of women in the Mauritian music scene.

With so few women represented in our local music industry, I am determined to pave the way for more. I want to show that women can lead, create, and inspire, breaking barriers for the next generation of female artists. Through this single, I hope to amplify not just my voice, but the voices of countless women who deserve to be heard.

I am also a proud member of Amazone, a Mauritian all-female band, where I contribute as a guitarist and vocalist. Together, we celebrate the strength, talent, and creativity of women in music. This project will allow us to take our mission even further.
