Wi Do | Charity Run by Willow-River and YOU! (May 17th 2020)
I am a professional surfer but i am not at all an endurance athlete or even a Marathon runner... But what drives me and what inspires me is to bring people together!
During these challenging times of uncertainty and doubts, coming together is a bit harder than ever before... But what we all can do is come together from wherever we are right now and raise money for two organisations which I believe are doing so much good in Mauritius and in this world! Read down below about the organisations.
I have decided to run a Marathon on the 17th of May around my building of residence to raise funds for Hope House and the I61 Foundation.
Lets put that in perspective... That is 42.195 kilometres. 211 Laps around the building (1 lap = 200m). I will finish this Marathon even if it may take me 4 hours, 6h, 8h by running, walking, crawling or rolling my way to the finish line.
If you are unable to donate, clicking the share button can go a long way and is equally appreciated!
Hope House is an NGO that has been close to my heart for a very long time. I have worked with them and seen them developing young kids and entrepreneurs over the last 6 years. Removing their focus from the negative things in life and empowering this young adults and kids to be able to create a future for themselves.
Hope House has various projects:
- a workshop and onsite skills development program to enable people to acquire skills to help them to create an income. We not only train, but also find markets for the products that are created
- SALT SURFERS, mentorship through surfing and sport for young people from difficult life environments
- GIRLS MAKE WAVES, a swimming, surfing and exercise program that inspires and encourages women to break fears and empower themselves
- a housing project. Every human being has a right to amenities, running water and a safe home . Our focus is to pair funding and the building projects with an eco friendly approach using rain water harvesting.
A message from Hope House,
"As the lockdown lifts, we anticipate a need to support families to reinstate themselves into a functional role once more, to motivate the youth to continue their schooling and engage our support wherever it is needed in rebuilding the damage this crisis has created. Hope House believes in building life in whatever shape or form it is needed.”

The I61 Foundation facilitates the funding process between funders (corporate or individual) and NGO's throughout Mauritius. We identify NGO's and link their projects to funders who have the same passion and social responsibility objectives as they do. The I61 Foundation facilitates the financial process of the project, providing feedback to the donors.
We are so grateful to Willow for his efforts in fundraising for the I61 Foundation and for raising awareness about what we do as an organization.
To date we have received an incredible funding to support the immediate response to the pandemic. The funds Willow raises for the I61 Foundation will be channeled to those organisations supporting the long term effects of the Covid-19 Crisis. Empowering and supporting the most vulnerable. Please get in touch with the I61 Foundation if you would like to know more.
With the help from each and everyone of you, together we can make an impact in peoples lives and support them during these challenging times…
Thank you for doing your part!
